Basket2911/11

Rectangular cedar basket with two handles. The basket is straight sided, but flared slightly toward the top. Two long wrapped handles are attached on both sides. The basket is made up of cedar slats wound with cedar root, alternating with openwork areas. The base has a checkerboard pattern of imbrication, which is partially broken off.

Round coiled tray. Top two coils around rim form a handle on one side. Opposite handle is missing. Interior of tray is decorated with alternating dark brown and reddish brown circular bands.

Round coiled tray. Rim has braided strips of bark which also form handles on either side. Interior of tray is decorated with four reddish brown lines coming out of a spiral in the centre, surrounded by squares composed of light and dark brown.

Oblong, coiled cedar root basket with rounded sides that flare outwards slightly at the rim. The top two coils of the basket form handles on the shorter sides of the basket. Exterior walls are decorated with a dark brown and reddish brown imbrication in a zigzag pattern with brown triangles lining the bottom.

Basket2911/17

Rectangular cedar basket with attached lid. Imbricated inverted triangles in dark red, black and light brown decorate each side. The lid is attached to the basket by two hide thongs on one of the longer sides. It is flat with a slightly raised edge and a wrapped and braided half circle handle at the centre also attached with leather thongs. The lid has an inner rim that sits inside the basket, and the top is decorated with several lines of imbrication down the centre and an encircling line around the edge.

Rectangular basket. The sides flare slightly toward the rim. The construction is cedar root wrapped over a slat structure. The basket is decorated with a series of imbricated open triangles in dark red and light brown, with black included in the bottom. Small areas of imbrication in dark red can be seen along the base.

Coiled, circular basket with lid. The basket flares slightly up toward the rim. It is decorated with thin diagonal stripes of imbrication in red and black with small areas of light brown. The base has an encircling strip of alternating red imbrication. The lid is round with a raised globular knob and has thin lines of black and red imbrication, radiating out from the knob.

Rectangular cedar basket with two side handles. Basket is made of cedar slats with root wrapping. Two inverted triangles of dark brown and red imbrication decorate each long side, while an inverted triangle of red and white imbrication decorated each short end. There are a few bars of Imbrication also embellishes the base. The basket is topped with several rows of wrapped looping in a loose triangle pattern, each culminating in a long, wrapped, semicircular handle.

Basket2911/8 a-c

Rounded cedar basket with lid. The basket is flat at the back, rounded at front and sides, and flaring from the rear corners toward the front. The sides are vertically straight. The lid (part b) was at one time attached by two hide thongs at the back, which remain. A handle (part c) was once attached to the front curve of the basket, and a long leather thong that tied the basket closed hangs from the front just under the rim. The lid has a leather receiving loop for the thong. The top of the lid and bottom of the basket are decorated with large imbricated diamonds, while the sides have several smaller imbricated diamonds.

Rectangular basketry tray, made of woven cedar root over a cedar wood base structure. The tray has a wrapped handle on both ends. The interior base of the tray has an imbricated diamond pattern in the centre, made of dyed dark red, black and light brown bark, with rectangles of dark red imbrication in each corner. Along the outside edges are small panels of the dark red imbrication.
