The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Small ovular basket with imbricated designs across exterior, single-row foot, and cross-hatched rim. Walls of basket flare slightly outward from base, making opening larger than foot. Designs consist of inverted, concentric triangles, that extend from opening towards middle of basket. Done in black, red-brown, and light yellow-white; centres of triangles are light yellow-white. Two crosses extend from tips of each triangle; done in black with light yellow-white centres. Identical cross patterns in between triangles; done in red-brown with light yellow-white centres. Rim of opening, along exterior walls, decorated with naturally coloured cherry bark. Base and interior are undecorated.
Large rectangular lidded basket with handles and a tight weave. The basket body is deep with a wide mouth, narrowing to a smaller base, with imbricated diamond, triangle and arrow shaped patterns in colours of tan, dark brown and red-brown decorating all sides. The lid (part b) is flat and has a low profile. It is decorated with imbrication similar to that on the body. The basket has two half circle handles attached at the shorter sides, just under the rim (one reattached in 2019).
Woven basketry violin case. Made of bear grass (white), cherry bark (red), and cedar bark (black) beading over cedar root. The maker's signature is in gold beading at the top of the case. There are two hinges of leather, and on the opposite side, a woven handle and two leather ties. The base and interior are plain.
Large circular basket (part a) with lid (part b). Both are made from a coil weave. Imbricated diamond designs on the lid, and an imbricated diagonal or stepped design around the side. The lid is round with a deep lip, which fits on the raised lip of the basket. The basket has two woven handles extending up from the rim on either side.
Four-sided woven basket. A large rectangular top, which tapers in to a small rectangular base. The sides and rim are beaded with cherry bark and cedar bark in a repeating flower-like design, alternating between dark red and black with off-white. The rim of the basket is beaded as well. There are five loops of rawhide tied through the sides of the basket, one on each of three sides, two on the fourth side.
Fishing creel basket with attached lid. The basket is constructed of coil weaving with an irregular curved rectangular base, concave back and convex sides creating a bulge at the centre of basket narrowing to rounded rectangular mouth. Imbricated with insect designs in red and black bark. The lid is attached by two rawhide ties. There is a rectangular hole woven in the centre of the lid. There is a small slit in the front edge of the lid, and just below the rim of the basket. The interior is plain. (A brown shoelace has been tied to the back of the basket.)
Burden basket with tumpline. Small, square base; basket walls flare toward rim, with a slightly curved profile. Black and red cherry bark imbrication is used to create linear designs with deep ‘V’ shapes on all sides. Hide thong loops, tied through near the rim, hold a tumpline made of red and grey wool and braided cedar bark.

Large loops are attached at the upper layer, through which are passed two tumpline ropes that serve as a handle. A skinned ermine is sewn to the handle (with its nose and whiskers still present). Cedar oil was applied to the basketry after completion.
The cherry bark is red. The cherry bark is black.
