Item Search

The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Basketry Cradle1-907

S'abadeb-Seattle Art Museum This basketry cradle was collected by anthropologist Erna Gunther along the Fraser River prior to 1950. Ornate decoration is common with cradles, where basket makers abandon their adherence to symmetry in favor of whimsy. In some communities the use of red decoration indicates a gift made for a beloved daughter or granddaughter, while black is more commonly used for males.
