The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Rectangular basketry tray, made of woven cedar root over a cedar wood base structure. The tray has a wrapped handle on both ends. The interior base of the tray has an imbricated diamond pattern in the centre, made of dyed dark red, black and light brown bark, with rectangles of dark red imbrication in each corner. Along the outside edges are small panels of the dark red imbrication.
Rectangular cedar basket with lid. The construction is cedar root wrapped over a slat structure. The basket is decorated with a central imbricated motif on each side, red and white on the long sides, and black and white on the short sides and lid. Short double lines of red imbrication can be seen around the lip. The lid is flat, with an interior rim that fits inside the basket mouth.
Round, coiled cedar basket. Basket sides are slightly curved, flaring slightly from base to shoulder, where it indents toward the mouth. A pattern of imbricated crosses in white and black or white and dark red is spaced evenly around the outer surface.
Rectangular basketry tray of wrapped slat construction. The tray has a small wrapped handle on the upper edge at both ends. The interior base of the tray has a geometric decorative pattern of dark red imbricated diamonds, and there are small panels of imbrication on the exterior edges.
Rectangular cedar basket with lid and two handles. The basket is straight sided, but flares slightly toward the top. Two long cedar handles are attached at both front and back and hang down across the shorter sides. The basket is decorated with an imbricated six point star on each side. The lid is flat with a rim that fits inside the basket mouth and is decorated with a central imbricated diamond.
Tall, round coiled basket with lid (part b). Brown basket has slightly flared sides and the rim has a coiled handle on either side. Exterior walls have dark brown and red-brown imbrication in downward arrow pattern. Lid has tall, slightly flared central knob surrounded by same arrow pattern imbrication. Sides of the lid have vertical strips with alternating dark brown and red-brown strips.
Round coiled basket with lid (part b). Basket has slightly flared sides and the rim has a coiled handle on one side. Exterior walls have dark brown, red-brown and yellow-brown imbrication in downward arrow patterns. Lid has slightly flared central knob surrounded by same arrow patterns. Sides of the lid have vertical strips with alternating dark brown and brown pieces.
Rectangular coiled cedar root basket. Each side has a pattern of two dark brown and one red-brown set of arrow-like designs done in imbrication. Strips of dark brown and red-brown bark are also woven through the top row at the rim. Two strings of hide are strung through the top coil on either side, creating long handles.
Rectangular tray with cross patterns. The tray has a low wall around the perimeter. The rim of this wall has false braiding around it. The tray is primarily yellow and demonstrates closed twining. There are also imbricated dark brown and red brown elements. In the base of the tray the imbricated motif is formed from small squares formed by five smaller squares; there is a smaller square in each corner and one in the centre. On either end of the tray, seven of the five-part squares meet at an acute angle which points into the centre of the tray. In the centre of the tray, two lines formed from seven of the five-part squares bisect each other diagonally. On the exterior of the walls of the tray, the imbricated dark brown and red brown material forms triangles made of small squares. The longest sides of the tray each have four triangles adorning them and the shorter sides have three triangles. The red brown triangles and dark brown triangles are placed next to each other to form a pattern. The artist’s name is written in pen on the bottom of the tray.
The cherry bark is red. The cherry bark is black.
