Backstrap loom with wood and bamboo bars, and rattan backstrap, (parts a-h) held together with knotted string. In order that the pieces occur. Part h is a plaited backstrap with a braided border and that narrows to wrapped handles on both sides. Part g is a flat hardwood sword with rounded ends that are slightly tapering, use-wear shows numerous slight indentations along both edges from the centre, and gives a serrated appearance. Part f is a cylindrical, dark brown hardwood stick. Part d is a hollow, brown bamboo warp beam. Part a is a cylindrical, dark brown hardwood stick with a narrower 2 cm. wide section before each knobbed end. Part b is a wide notched ended hardwood stick with one concave and one flat surface. Part e is like f but of a lighter brown. Part c is like b. String, one side black, other faded to purple-brown tied together, knotted at each element.
Basket (a) with upright handle and separate lid (b). Body of basket is plaited, weft has zigzag appearance over wider horizontal warps. Border and footed twisted withe-like elements; fine wicker work above foot; handle is bamboo slats, wrapped with twisted elements at corners and on either side of wrapped circle on top. Brown overall with multi-coloured floral and bird design. Rooster and chrysanthemums on one side and a crested, long-tailed bird (pheasant?) with gardenia like flowers on the other. Handle, green outside, natural inside and warp ties (some red); border and base remnants of red; wicker work blue and white. Five wrapped bamboo strips, reinforced base. Lid has convex plaited top, rim as basket border, wicker work between, colour as basket. Painted design, blue vase with gardenia-like flowers; vegetables (?) in a basket on right and ceramic dish on left; two red and white fruit (persimmons?) to right.
Part a is a long knife with a single-edged metal blade. Has a convex edge, slightly concave back to within 6.5 centimetres of point when it becomes convex and angles to a point. Green-stained wood pommel has two extensions, the longer one of which is at a right angle to the rest. On this, there is a low relief splayed human, face down, hugging the pommel with a floral pattern and incised geometric shapes. Both extensions are fitted with beige hair pieces, possibly horse hair. These pieces are circled with red and black dyed hair rings at the bases. Haft is wrapped with plaited metal inset, with hardened fibre and resin mixture? Sword fits into a larger wood slot of the sheath (part b) formed by two pieces held by a series of bamboo strip lashings along the length. Sheath lashed to a smaller hide sheath formed from a piece folded together along the length. Woven bamboo loop handle and woven bamboo and twined nylon rope handle with attached crescent-shaped wood piece. Part c is a smaller knife that fits in the hide sheath. Slightly curving dark brown wood haft with a silver metal band inset in wood, fibre, and resin? Incised scrolled character and lettering (Bujang nl 9). Double-edged convex metal blade, concave back to 5 centimetres of point where it becomes angled, both concave and convex to a point.
Wooden crossbow (a) with a twined, fibrous cord (b). Bamboo crosspiece, tapering out from centre has carved dowell-shaped ends. Piece is centred passes through and at right angle to stock. Stock tapers at front end to two points and tapers from join leveling out towards butt end. Two notched rows along length of front end with remains of fur overall, added by gluing(?). Carved notch halfway down stock and dowell ends of crosspiece accommodate. Part b: length of twisted and bound fibre; two loops at each end for fitting over dowels; centre of length is reinforced with twisted bamboo for fitting into notch. Carved, articulated wooden trigger attached by dowel to stock.
Cylindrical container with lid from natural nodes of bamboo, one end closed on each. Red geometric patterns on container with diamond shapes. Ends with gold and red rings. Red cross on lid's indented top. Shorter lid is fitted over the longer container. Woven rings are inset into the bamboo on each. Single cut grass strand is knotted at both ends to two woven handles protruding from both sides of the container's woven ring. Grass passes up through the two drilled holes in the lid, is knotted together, and extends stiffly upwards.
Tube (part a) from a natural node of bamboo, one end of which is closed while there is a small hole drilled on the side near the open end. At hole, split has formed. Parts b-h are arrows formed from solid bamboo lengths with the ends carved to points. Other end of each is split partially down the length and inserted into it, there is a folded diamond-shaped bamboo fibre piece held in place by fibre binding around the circumference at the top.
Four-piece, three-tiered, round cake basket in black lacquered wicker work with gold, swirl, line and floral designs. Part a: base with stand-up handle; four orange/red painted sections; prominent wicker work in two horizontal sets divided by a black band. Handle of bamboo slats with red painted bands at corners; curved, forged metal handle at top attached with two curved metal strips. Part b: centre tray with middle orange/red section with prominent wicker work. Part c: top tray with gold painted twining through centre of wicker work. Part d: lid; top and sides made of orange/red wicker work; top centre features a back section with scalloped edges and a faint floral design painted in gold.
Basket (a) with removable trays (b) and lid (c); black lacquered wicker work with faint gold/orange floral designs. Part a: the basket's base with a stand-up handle attached at the sides; black except for four red, painted side sections where underlying wicker work is prominent. Part b: centre tray, four centre sections on sides painted red, open wicker work with a gold line running through it. Part c: convex lid, black with wicker work painted red; centre black section, scalloped edge with six extensions, gold/orange painted design of man with leg on left pulled back, standing under tree. The numeral 39 is painted in gold on the underside of each section.
Round, low basket (part a) of finely split bamboo with traces of green dye, especially inside lid (part b) and on bottom. Lid (part b) is ornamented with light purple glass bangles secured with finely knotted yellow cotton cord. Eleven Chinese coins are sewn on lid (part b) with light purple, yellow, green, and blue glass beads.
Wayang kulit (shadow puppet) Gunungan (mountain) or kayon (tree of life). Leaf-shaped filigree-cut leather object tied between stick split lengthwise with 3 carved bands at base and tapering handle. Base of leaf tapers out and into point at top. Light blue pedestal design at base, ends curled up; topped by upturned row of floral motifs. Oval enclosures in centre flanked by 2 large curved wings. Tree trunk grows from oval supporting rosettes, symmetrical sets of branches with 4 monkeys. Six birds in various positions between. All colours pale. Number on base (29-1919 ?) and inscription 'Bakoendean'.
