Shawl3097/15

Patterned woven wool shawl with vertical coloured stripes and wider bands on a black ground. The shawl is made up of two panels sewn together at the vertical centre with dark brown thread. The centre of the shawl along the seam is a wide band of black ground, with solid stripes across the outer sections. The stripes are pink, purple, yellow, brown, and white, with orange stripes only on the left side of the shawl. The wide bands are patterned with wide zigzags or chevrons with concentric circle patterns inside. The right edge is patterned with checkers and the left edge with triangles. The edging is tubular and pink, patterned with yellow and blue lines.

Rectangular brown shawl with wide striped bands on the left and right edges and a colourful patterned panel in the centre. The centre panel has a seam in the centre where the two halves are stitched together with alternating pink, purple, orange, and white thread. The wide bands along the edges are striped with orange, light tan, black, and burgundy. They are also patterned with thinner stripes, dotted stripes, and one pink and white stripe with a zigzag with small circles on either side. The centre panel is made up of two identical flipped bands sewn together. These bands have burgundy, black, and orange stripes. They also have a wide pink, white, and yellow band in the centre with a diamond pattern. There is a circle with a dot at the centre inside the diamonds.

Colourful, patterned, woven wool shawl. The outside vertical thirds are bright patterned panels, the centre third is dark brown with a seam down the centre where the two halves were stitched together. The colourful panels have matching patterns in different colours. The patterns are made up of red vertical stripes of varying widths, some of which are patterned with vertical swirls, horizontal zigzags, wave motifs, and checkers in other colours.

Basket is decorated with upper and lower bands of purple triangles with alternating strips of red and yellow passing through horizontally; central discrete figures in a stepped design encircle the centre. Lid: central sunburst of black with two rows of purple triangles with alternating strips of red and yellow passing through. Base: plaited origin and plain twined work (over several warp strands). Sides: twisted twined work. Slightly indented flange around upper rim of basket holds lid in place.

Central band has a "meander" pattern. 2 bands of parallelogram shapes in natural grass on green and on red. Rows of natural/red/natural/orange/natural on button handle. Base is mixed twined work. Sides and lid are plain twined with false embroidered design.
