Linen blouse (part of a girl’s costume with 3052/19-24). Shirt is long, with a ‘v’ neck and wide sleeves that end in small, pleated cuffs. Shoulder area is heavily embroidered with diamond patterns in red and orange. Flower and stem motifs fall from the shoulders to the chest, with a similar motif down the arm, and the neck and cuffs are decorated with embroidery in the same colours. Neck and cuffs are closed by thin wool drawstrings with tassels.

Beaded choker-style necklace (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-16). On light grey thread are woven beads in several colours, creating ‘x’ and diamond shaped patterns. Thread extends beyond the beads, twisted to create ties.

Head scarf (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). Scarf is square, the fabric fine and thin. Background colour is dark maroon, with a large central design of roses, daisies and foliage amongst a trellis structure of triangles, lines and dots.

Head scarf (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). Scarf is square, in bright red, with a floral print of red, pink and blue flowers, green foliage, and structural embellishment in gold, white and green. Two adjacent edges of the scarf are edged with red wool tied into a wide, decorative net from which hang long tassels.

Woven belt (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). The belt is woven from many colours of thread, creating several bi-coloured lines. Threads are free at the ends of belt where they create a short fringe.

Long bodice vest (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). Mainly black, with neck, arms, and hems edged in red velvet. The front is made of two panels, one that extends over the other, and closes by snaps on the shoulders. There are twill ties inside to help close the vest. The back portion below the waist is pleated. Garment is lined with shiny polyester.

Cotton apron (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). Apron is rectangular, made of a doubled-over piece of dark maroon fabric with long ties that extend from the waistband. At bottom is orange needlepoint design of flowers and foliage on top of another floral motif line of design.

Skirt made up of three panels (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). Panels have multicoloured vertical lines of flowers and zigzag patterns. Parts ‘a’ and ‘b’ are identical. These smaller panels are rectangular in shape, with a narrow, covered, elasticized band at top that protrudes from each side to form ties, with a wide hem at the bottom. Part ‘c’ is a wider panel. It too has an elasticised band at top, uncovered, and wide hem at bottom, as well as wide side folds edged in green satin on the back.

Knee length skirt for wearing under a wool skirt (part of a woman’s costume with 3052/9-17). Made of thick, woven white linen, with an elasticised waist. A panel in a lighter colour and fabric makes up the waist area. Sewn to this is the skirt, made from a thicker, more even weave. The bottom hem is covered in needlepointed red flowers with black foliage.

Blouse (part of a woman’s costume, with 3052/10-17) made of fine white linen. Blouse has a square neck and wide sleeves that narrow to a tight cuff with a hook and eye closure. Arms are heavily decorated around shoulder area with lines of needlepoint in red and black. Cuffs and neck are also embroidered, but more simply, with single lines of red and black.
