Reading GlassesEe4.94 a-b

Brown and yellow coloured oval-shaped spectacles (part a) with scalloped bridge. Side pieces fold in at a halfway mark and fold in again in order to lay flush up against the spectacles. Blue coloured spectacle case (part b) is oblong in shape. In between the lid and case are two thick pieces of black ribbon. On one side of the case there are embroidered flowers(?) and a bird(?) below the lid and an unrecognizable design above the lid. On the other side of the case, there are embroidered characters below the lid and a flower(?) design above the lid. The top of the lid has a looped tassel with a glass bead, while on the bottom of the case there is a long looped cord with a bead and two staggered tassels.

Apron1014/3

Woman’s rectangular, striped apron, made from three narrow panels of white, pink, dark purple and green horizontally striped cotton, sewn together edge-to-edge. Attached at the upper corners are decorative, woven white, pink, green and blue cotton ties with long tassels. The apron is lined with a brightly coloured green, orange and white cotton in a checkerboard pattern of squares, ovals and circles.

Blouse1014/2

Woman’s light purple, silk damask, long-sleeved, loose fitting blouse, with centre front opening and high collar. The collar is cut as one with the centre front panel, and the edge of this panel is the fabric selvage. The damask fabric is patterned with scattered floral motifs. The sleeves are straight, without cuffs, finished with the fabric selvage at the wrist. There are diamond-shaped gussets at the underarms. The bottom edge is unfinished. No fastenings.

Pair of boots with brown velvet and red wool uppers that are decorated with bands of off-white, medium blue and dark blue embroidery as well as black leather piping. The pointed toes curve upwards and the soles are leather with large metal nails.

Reading Glasses980/3 a-b

A pair of silvery metal spectacles (part a) with a square upper bridge, circular eye pieces with glass, arms that fold out and bend slightly to shape to the wearer's head with flat black circular ends. The case (part b) is fairly flat and has an elongated oval shape. It is painted black and carved with writing characters on one side and with a bird in a tree on the other side. The lid is attached to the main case through flat green braided string with a white loop at the top and two yellow-green tassels.

Incense BurnerEe4.99 a-c

Three-legged brown metal incense burner with a round body (part b), domed lid (part a), and a raised circular base (part c); the lid is covered with a perforated, scrolling floral design and topped by the miniature figure of a seated dog. Burner's sides are covered with eight applied figures, alternating between an orchid-like flower and a dog's head with a ring hanging from its mouth. The three legs on the burner are shaped like demon heads with protruding tongues. The circular, raised stand has a curving foot and is covered in a repeating petal-like pattern.
