Woven rectangular textile composed of three pieces of fabric sewn together. Large ikat centre piece is woven in dark purple-red, light brown, green, and blue. The centre piece is flanked by two pieces of fabric with a red background decorated with intricately patterned gold thread designs.
Small lime bottle with elaborate lid. The bottle (part a) is cylindrical, with a thick, round base and a flaring lip. The middle portion is light brown wood with a delicately incised decoration in patterns of triangles, circles, waves and lines. The lid (part b) is round and fits snuggly into the mouth of the bottle. It holds a carving of a horse being ridden by a man, with a smaller man crouched on his head. A snake balances on top of the smaller man, its body hanging straight down to where it merges into the horse.
Small cylindrical container (for tobacco?). The body is tall and narrow, delicately and densely carved in encircling patterns of triangles, swirls, leaves, and geometric and liner designs, in a dark brown colour. Both bottom and top of cylinder are painted a dark reddish brown, with a lacquered shine. The inside is hollow with thin walls. The lid has a round bottom that fits snuggly inside the cylinder, with a top that protrudes beyond the rim and a small round handle at centre top. Small triangles are carved into the outer edge of the lid.
Wedding sarong (tapis). Two panels of hand spun, natural dyed cotton are stitched together with a long centre seam. The edge at one end has a folded hem, the other edge is finished with a basting stitch. Hand loomed cloth has stripes of red, brown and yellow with mirror work and embroidery embellishment.
Ceremonial altar cloth in shades of brown and copper-gold. Black cotton warp, bronze metallic filament weft. Continuous and discontinuous supplementary weft with silk single filament yarn. Adat house motif, with buffalo heads.
Ceremonial cloth of handspun cotton, natural dyes, predominately red. Warp faced cloth, warp ikat is a cream-coloured chevron motif. Twined ends with fringe.
Turquoise silk cloth with an overlaid purple centre panel and a looping gold filament border stitched on around the edge. The top surface of the runner-like cloth is covered with a decorative hand embroidery of mixed gold and copper filaments attached in a couching-technique known as stumping, with the resultant cross hatching of the ivory coloured thread covering the under surface. Cloth has long twined strands that hang out beneath metal fringe at both ends.
Long bolster cover. Rectangle of pale green cotton cloth has a shiny border stitched to sides and ends made of strips of the same fabric with songket supplementary weft design in gold covered thread.
Long silk shoulder cloth (selendang). Dyed, using plangi and trikit resist technique, to produce a red ground covered with white squares, some large and filled pink, green and purple star bursts, others small and filled with red, green and/or yellow, all within a double white lined border.
Shoulder cloth (selendang) of songket brocade. Hand loomed purple cotton cloth with continuous supplementary weft of silver wrapped cotton yarn creating rows of intricate floral motifs. Long fringe at both ends, one of which is finished off with a solid woven band of green.
