Pot3399/1

Clay pot with spout. The body expands out from the rim, then tapers from shoulders down to a narrow flat base. A handle was attached opposite to the spout on the side of the neck at shoulder, but has broken off. The body has coiled indents in the mid-section, with smooth sides above and below.

Long-sleeved black velvet shirt with large blue rectangular cross-stitch embroidery (tatreez تطريز) panel covering the front. The cross-stitch embroidery is mainly medium and light blue with some areas in a dark blue. It is composed of many repeating geometric designs in rows. For each shoulder, there is a small black ribbon with sewn on snap button closures.

Piece of cloth completely embroidered with three rows of repeating geometric shapes in red, black and orange. The bottom edge is finished with a loop stitch in red; the other three sides have cut edges.

Hat3357/3

Hat with a pointed gathered fabric top with cross-stitch embroidery (tatreez تطريز). The front of the hat is heavily embroidered with burgundy and black checkerboard design, and the back is plain burgundy fabric. The interior is lined with a light off-white fabric. On each side, a long burgundy fabric flap hangs, both heavily cross stitched in bright geometric designs (including star motifs), with a length of dark green and dark red cord with a flat cross-section. Each strap has the 'Walls of Jerusalem' pattern. The left cord has a short fringe, and the right cord has a long fringe. The burgundy flaps are lined with a green fabric with oval cutouts at ear level. Attached to the hat is a black cord with a flat cross-section that is stitched to a metal loop on either side of the rim of the face, leaving a length of cord dangling on each side.

Dress3295/8

Long-sleeved dress with slit neckline and cross-stitch embroidery (tatreez تطريز). Embroidered with motifs of Palestinian flags, outlines of Palestine, grenades(?), cyprus trees and rifles on front and back panels, around the cuffs and on the chest. Black and white 'chicken feet' patterns border panels and are incorporated into the chest panel. The panels also have Arabic text 'Palestine', 'Father of Walid/Waleed' and 'Fatah'. There are small slits on each side of the dress at the bottom. The edges are all embroidered with black thread, except the bottom hem which has red thread. The interior is unlined.

Face Veil3295/39

Face veil composed of a black band with colourful cross-stitch embroidery (tatreez تطريز) in geometric patterns, which is attached by a short chain on either side, and a short plaited cord down the bridge of the nose, to another similar band. The upper band is wider with ends that can be tied together. A single strand of beads extends down from the upper band, attached below three pounded gold coins. Over each eye is sewn a gold-coloured rectangular metal ornament with dangling stars and discs. Double-layered pieces of thin red fabric extend down from the lower band, and is heavily embellished with sixteen columns of pounded coins, the majority of which are silver-coloured with exception to the middle column, which is gold-coloured and extends from the top of the fabric. The coins are attached to the red fabric in a V-shape at the top, with the centre column being the exception, and running down the entire length.

Wedding Dress3241/1

Wedding dress. Silk garment is long, with a flaring skirt, V neck, and long bell shaped sleeves that flare widely toward the wrists and come to a hanging point at bottom. Dress is heavily embroidered in repeating small gold circular motifs lying in diagonal stripes across the dress, on a light tan ground. Panels of heavy embroidery are sewn into the shoulders and sleeves of the dress, the torso, along the sides of the skirt, and bottom back hem, showing chevrons, flowers, birds and other motifs in orange, red, green and purple on a red and orange ground. The interior is unlined.
