Wall Hanging3656/33

Seal skin applique wall hanging; done in horizontal orientation. Hanging consists of a central design, wide border, and fur fringe along outer edges; border decorated with scallops. Central design is of two scenes, one on top of the other; scenes are of a person dog sledding away from an igloo and then returning. Person is wearing a hooded parka, long pants, and has a whip. When leaving, in the upper scene, the person is holding the whip over their head; they are using it, fully extended, in the lower scene. Small inscription on back of hanging: #3.

Kalvak/Emerak Memorial Portfolio3662/1 a-b

Portfolio, consisting of a special edition hard cover folder (part a) and a title page (part b), as well as a lithograph portrait of each artist (parts c, j), and twelve prints (parts d-i, and k-p), six by each artist. Folder is light grey with central design of a large ulu, done in dark grey spots and curvilinear lines. Title is written along top edge, and Holman Eskimo-Cooperative logo, consisting of an ulu with "HOLMAN" written through the centre, along bottom edge. There are metal grommets along the right side. Attached to back cover, inside, is a gloss paper folder for holding loose pages. The title page (part b) is done on gloss paper and has acknowledgements, in English, Inuktut, and French, and edition number, 14/55. "KALVAK/EMERAK" and Holman Eskimo Co-Operative logo done in orange-red, all other text done in dark grey. All internal prints/pages are loose, not bound.

Moccasins3617/1 a-b

Pair of white deer skin moccasins with beadwork on vamp and sides; openings lined with white fur. Soles, sides, and toes are made up of a large piece of skin, stitched together at toe and heel; vamp is separate. Vamp has a central design of pink and red flowers with yellow centres, and dark and light green leaves. Edges of vamp are bordered with red, maroon, and light green bands. Beadwork on sides of moccasins have a central pink flower with yellow centre, framed with dark purple and yellow buds; buds and flowers are connected with light green and white vines and leaves. Moccasins are lined with plain cloth.

Pair of ankle-high hide moccasins with elastic band behind the tongue. Top of toe and extended flaps around the ankles are covered with cloth panels with beaded decorations. Design on toes consist of dark blue flowers with green leaves on a white background; orange highlights throughout flowers. Design on flaps consist of maroon, dark blue and red-orange flowers with green leaves on a white background; dark green and orange highlights throughout flowers. Cloth panels are bordered with dark blue beads. Additional alternating orange and light blue-white bead border on edge of tongue, and top and sides of flap; hide fringe along bottom edge of flaps. Interior of flaps lined with polka-dotted cloth.

Top of toe and long flap wrapping around back of heel are covered with cloth panels with beaded decorations. Designs consist of pink and blue flowers with green leaves on a white background; dark purple highlights and yellow centres throughout pink flowers. Cloth panels are bordered with dark purple beads; additional alternating white and pink bead border on long flap. Moccasin openings are lined with dark brown-grey fur.

Parka3496/1

Parka style inner and outer coat set. Both are hooded with front centre openings, secured with zippers. Outer coat is made of light blue synthetic material, unlined. Inner coat made of white wool, lined with dark blue silk-like fabric. Two large pockets, with deeply curved openings, on either side of outer coat. Cuffs and bottom edge are trimmed with Delta Braids. Ribbon is light yellow, bordered with red along the top and brown along the bottom. Repeating pattern of green squares framing a dark purple rectangle throughout centre of yellow band. Repeating pattern of three birds embroidered along cuffs and bottom edge of inner coat. Standing pink and green birds face one another with a purple bird in between, facing forward. Wings and legs are highlighted dark green, red and light green. On the chest, on either side of the centre opening, are standing red birds with dark yellow highlights, facing one another. Cuffs, bottom edge and hood of inner coat are trimmed with white fox fur. Manufacturer's mark stamped to exterior of the inner coat's hood.

Small bundle of six bone tools, held together with a sinew cord. Holes sinew is strung through are drilled near the top edge of all tools. Four tools have curved tops and pointed ends; other two are flat and have sloped tips. Pointed tools grouped together on left side of bundle, flat tools on right side.

Sinew Twister Tool3508/10

Small bundle of four sinew twister tools, held together on a hide string. Holes hide is strung through are drilled through the centres of tools. String is knotted on the right side, untied along left. Two tools towards right end of cord are flat, and have rectangle-shaped tops and tapered ends. Two on left side are curled on both ends, giving the tools an overall “S" shape.
