Mask2655/148

Overall red portrait mask with bulging forehead. The forehead has carved grooves on its sides and at its centre. The face has carved black eyebrows with carved grooved eyelashes and cut-out slits on upper eyelids, slanted oval-shaped white coloured eyes with black coloured pupils, a long protruding nose with exaggerated cheek bones, a wide and thin cut-out mouth with three staggered white coloured teeth, two at the top and one at the bottom of the mouth, and a long pointed chin that slopes upwards.

Face sculpted in relief, which is a part of a larger piece. Details of face are both in relief and incised into surface: brows are incised; eyes are incised; nose is in relief; mouth has lips in relief and teeth incised. Hair and ear at right of face are still present but other side and top of head are lost; part of neck remains.

Mask2655/197

Devil mask. Oversized horns protruding upwards from forehead, with alternating yellow, red, white and black coloured stripes. Two split snakes with alternating yellow, white, red and black coloured stripes are carved on the centre of the face, extending from the jaw around the eyes to the snout. On either side, below the square-shaped cut-out eyes, are two lizard-like relief carvings. The mouth is wide open and has white teeth on the top and bottom, a fibre tongue hanging over the edge of the bottom row of teeth and a yellow coloured ball in its mouth.

A long red face with gold eyebrows and beard carved with slits to add texture to the "hair". The beard curves outwards into a pointed tip. There are two horizontally carved black painted furrows at his brow. The mask has black eyes with nine white teeth.

Mask2655/67 a-c

Devil mask. Black, long-horned mask; horns are removable (parts b-c). Covered with pieces of red foil, three circular pieces of mirror on the cheeks and forehead, and silver pieces of metal on the chin and horns. A baby doll's head with red eyes is attached to the crown of the mask--the head has a rattle inside of it. Pieces of fuzzy brown fabric are used for eyebrows and a mustache. The nose is large, protruding and hooked.

Smiling yellow-faced mask. Nose, mustache and beard are in relief; eyebrows, eyelashes, mustache, and beard are in black, lips are in red, and teeth are white. Holes at eyes, mouth, nostrils, and between eyes and eyebrows. Small holes at edges, two on each side and two at top.
