White ramie vest with a V-neck and centre front closing with four white plastic buttons. The lower edge curves downward in the centre front. There are pockets sewn on each side of the centre opening and a third smaller pocket on the upper left side. There is a centre back seam. All hems and seams are very narrow.

Long, flared coat with long sleeves and front opening overlapping to the right, made of white cotton fabric. The coat has a V neck with outer and inner facings of the same material and with a rounded corner at the lower edge on the left side, and a squared corner at the right side. There is a narrower outer facing or collar of white cotton squared at the lower ends and hand-sewn in place. One wide ribbon tie is attached at the mid-point of the place where the wider facing meets the front edge and another is attached at the corresponding level on the right side. There are shorter, narrower ribbon ties on the inside, attached to the facing and on the left underarm seam. The sleeves are inset with straight seams and have slight convex curves at their lower edges. The coat has a centre back seam, a pair of flared gussets under each arm and a slightly flared panel descending from the mid-point of each outer facing so that the coat overlaps at the front when closed. There are small openings in the side seams at waist level on each side. The inside facings are not stitched in place. Coat made to be worn with pants and jacket (2535/1, 3).

A black brimless hat, light brown on the inside, with an oval opening for the head. Made of fabric pasted over heavy paper, lacquered black which has then been cut and folded to form the hat which is held together by lacing with a heavy twisted cord at the back. The two cuts form diagonal lines at each side, ending in two points at the upper front. There is a fold parallel to the wearer’s shoulders across the top of the hat, from which a straight-sided flap forms the outside of the back. This is attached to the ends of the wrapped front panel at the centre back with lacing. A narrow edging of paper is pasted along the lower edge of the hat. Small tassels of twisted yellow silk cord at the back. There is lacing of grey-white paper cord.

A light brown brimless hat with an oval opening for the head. Made of light brown fabric pasted over heavy paper which has then been cut and folded to form the hat, which is held together by lacing with a heavy twisted cord at the back. There is a fold parallel to the wearer’s shoulders across the top of the hat, from which a straight-sided flap forms the outside of the back. A robe (part a) of dark blue silk gauze fully lined with the same material in light blue. Robe opens at the right front side with the left front panel overlapping the right-hand panel secured at the top with a single toggle, below which, there are wide ties, two of each colour, attached to each panel. The neck is round with a white insert that is higher at the back. The robe is formed of slightly flared panels and has an inverted pleat at each side, above which, there is a belt loop on the right side and a tie to hold the belt on the left. The wide sleeves are rounded at the front and the back bottom edges and have interfacings at the openings to reinforce them. At the upper centre front and back of the robe, there are sewn rectangular embroidered cloth badges, each of which has a white crane in the centre with stylized red, pink, purple, green cloud forms above, and rock forms below on a black background. The back of the badge is lined with paper pasted in place.

Skirt made of one and one-half panels of shiny red brocade with a background pattern of full and half roundels with a stylized Chinese character surrounded by cloud-like patterns, with smaller curvilinear patterns between. The skirt is open at the back, and is lined with red nylon transparent fabric. The panels are pleated and inserted into a band of similar fabric but with a floral pattern. The upper edge of the band is scalloped, with the points of the scallops meeting the ends of two shoulder straps of the nylon lining. On both sides of the back opening are embroidered simple yellow chrysanthemums with green stems and leaves, and with a border at the side and bottom of green leaves On the centre front near the bottom are embroidered two Chinese characters in blue, one above the other. On each side of the characters is embroidered a phoenix facing the centre, with five long tail feathers in green, white, blue, yellow, and turquoise, with metallic thread throughout.

Upper body garment made of bright yellow and red shiny fabric lined with red nylon transparent fabric. The long sleeves are deeply inset with seams curving outwards towards the underarms, and are made of brocade woven in stripes in six different colours parallel to the body of the garment. Embellished with flowers, bats, butterflies, and stylized Chinese characters woven in red. The seam of the sleeves, under the arms, has a pronounced convex curve narrowing to the wrist. The body of the garment curves downwards to the centre front and back. It opens at the front. The front panels overlap to the right when closed and fasten with long ribbon ties made of the same fabric as that at the wrist. The left panel and the centre back seam are edged with red piping. The lower point of the left panel has an appliquéd motif in red approximately the shape of a heart with pink flowers and green stems embroidered above. A phoenix facing the centre of the garment is embroidered on each side with multicoloured thread. Red panels are inserted under each arm. The garment has a deep V neck outlined with an appliquéd red facing outlined in black piping, as are the seams attaching the sleeves. There is also a narrow facing or collar of white fabric.

Pair of white socks (part a-b). The sock has wide ankles, rounded heel and foot angled downward. Two layers of fabric are sewn together around the edge. The outer is of heavy white nylon fabric, and the inner layer is heavy white cotton fabric. The cotton layer has a machine stitched hem at the top. A gold and red paper label is pasted on one side of each sock.

White and green jacket. The jacket is made of shiny stiff white fabric with a woven pattern of roundels enclosing a stylized character. The centre opening overlaps to the right when fastened with long green ribbon ties. The deep V neckline has appliqué green facing. The left outer facing is rounded at the lower edge, while the right is straight and projects beyond the front edge. The neck is finished with a narrow outer facing or collar of white paper covered with sheer fabric. There is a seam down the centre back. The long sleeves are set in with a straight seam and a convex curve on the lower edge, narrowing to the wrist. There is a green band around the wrists. Thin green inner ties are sewn to the right inner facing and the left underarm seam. The inner lining is fine white nylon mesh, with an interfacing of coarser nylon mesh.

Doll representing a female figure carved out of wood with articulated shoulders and ankles. The doll's face and hands are painted white, with eyes and eyebrows painted in black and the mouth painted in pink. The doll's hair is painted in black on the crown of her head with a braid hanging down her back and adhered to the back of her head. A strip of blue-green silk is braided into the hair, and the braid is tied at the top with a ribbon of burgundy silk. She wears a pink skirt with a white cotton waistband with long ties, tied in a single-loop bow at the front over two pairs of white under trousers with a back slit, the outer pair of which is voluminous. Above this she wears a short greenish-yellow jacket with burgundy outer neck facing and wristbands, and narrower white neck facing. This is tied with burgundy ribbons in a single-loop bow. She wears shoes with pointed, upturned toes painted pink with a black linear and loop design, and socks of white ramie.
