Light coloured wooden standing figure known as Daikokuten (大黒天) with a big sack over his left shoulder and a uchide no kozuchi (打ち出の小槌), or a legendary magic mallet in his right hand, standing on bales called tawara (俵) full of rice. Some painting on features; carved in a sophisticated style. Japanese calligraphy on the back; writing includes the name of a place: Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture (神奈川県鎌倉). Usually shown as a pair with Ebisu (N2.975).

Light coloured wooden seated figure known as Ebisu (えびす) also written asゑびす/恵比須/恵比寿/夷/戎/蛭子) with tai (鯛/sea beam), a symbol of good fortune, under his left arm, sitting on a rock. Some painting on the features; carved in a sophisticated style. Usually paired with Daikokuten (N2.976).

Washi sample mounted horizontally on white, labelled and folded paper with 3-pointed leaf above scrolled 'm' watermark. Sample is rectangular, translucent, white with brown specks and fibres. Watermark pattern of widely spaced horizontal and closely spaced vertical lines. All 4 edges retain irregular deckle edge. Upper surface is smoother. Vertical ridges are visible.
