Heavily painted strip of tapa cloth. Design includes four main panels with geometric designs in black and brown-red paint. The two panel designs alternate. Red-brown border design on each end. Fringe along the long edge.

Carved and painted wood mask. The mask is a long oval that comes to points at the top and bottom of the face. The nose tapers to a pointed tip. The eyes are two inlaid cowrie shells within a painted black area. At the top centre of the head is a hole with a short length of braided plant fibre tied looped through.

Mask3439/1

Carved and painted wood mask. The mask is long and thin, with a long nose that curves and connects with the mouth area. The eyes are inlaid cowrie shells within a painted black area. The jaw and mouth area are also inlaid with two rows of cowrie shells - small shells around the interior, and larger shells around the outer edge. The jaw is lined with dark brown plant fibre beard on a braided cord. At the top centre of the head is a hole with a short length of braided plant fibre tied looped through.

Small rectangular tapa cloth. Completely covered in geometrical and linear patterns on one side. The repeated designs in black and off-white form concentric rectangles to the central red-brown solid rectangle which contains two star or flower designs.

A large rectangular bark cloth covered with geometric patterns. The patterns are made up of triangles and linear shapes which fit together to decorate the cloth's whole surface. The cloth is coloured in varying shades of reddish brown and browns.

A large, oval bowl, with four legs, carved from a single piece of wood. On one side of the bowl there is a diamond-shaped handle with two small holes carved through it.

A club carved from heavy, dark-brown hardwood with large knobs on the top end, and a zigzag pattern on the handle. Half way along the decorated handle there is a band of braided natural fibre wrapped tightly around it.

Undecorated sperm whale tooth attached to a woven cord, called a tabua. The cord is made of braided plant fibre wrapped with colourful strands of yarn. Two holes are bored through the tooth, one at the tip and one near the top, through which the cord is tied.

Large, wooden kava bowl. Bowl is carved out of a single piece of wood, wide at mouth, narrowing toward a pointed bottom. It stands on four peg-shaped legs. Between two is a carved, downward facing point. The bowl is undecorated.
