Ceramic horn-shaped cup, polished with spout and incised decoration on upper 1/3 of cup consisting of; a vertical row of chevron patterns opposite the spout, four lozenge-shaped forms below the spout, and four flower forms enclosed by frames of three straight ridges on each side.
Wicker plaited basket with flat rigid warp and wefts of split cane. Attached rim and base. Rim is three splints wrapped in red raffia. Base is of a single splint covered with red, purple, and green plain plaiting. Soft handle of six strands of purple rope knotted together and attached to the rim at either side. Decoration consists of false embroidery on the body of the basket in geometric patterns of stripes and crosses in red, purples, and green with six strands of purple and green rope attached to the upper edge under the rim.
Wooden drumstick; no decoration, roughly cut at either end. There is a semi-circular gash near one end.
Roughly hewn drumstick with blunt ends. Streaks of dark bark against lighter brown wood.
Cylinder-shaped wooden drum, partially hollowed out. Two rectangular cut slits are notched along the circumference of each end. Two diamond-shaped extensions, possible handles. Burnt designs in circular and paddle shapes on body and extensions, burnt outlining at slits and ends. Roughly finished.
Carved wood bowl with a pouring lip and a pierced lug at opposite side. Geometric incised linear design circles the bowl. Four grooves are close to the upper edge with a band below divided into equal triangles, half of each having either five or six vertical lines within. Exterior finish is smooth and interior is rough.
Calabash gourd container (part a) on a coiled fibre base with all-over bead design and stopper (part b) in the form of a bird head. Design repeats complex red, orange, blue, black, and white geometric forms on the body, the base, the neck, and the bird-like features on the head which include eyes. Hollow base is outlined with shell while the interior of the base is lined with burlap stitched to finer burlap covering the calabash. Wood stopper (part b) is covered at the joint with striped cotton and is secured to the outer bead layer with a nail.
Double-headed metal bells, connected at top, narrow ends by a curved metal handle wrapped with reeds. Each head is conical, two-sided, hollow and tapered, in the shape of an elongated cone. The sides of each cone are curved and joined by a flattened, protruding seam. The metal is rough, uneven and rusted away in places. Bells are mottled. Reed wrapping is natural variegated colour.
Carved ape headdress of dark stained wood. The face has protruding eyes, a long nose and large bar-like teeth in a huge grimacing mouth; large ears. The face is contained within a heart shaped line forming the brows and cheeks and converging at the mouth. Horns are represented by two spider-like animals carved on top of the head. The back has a wire hanger placed inside a large scooped out area. Remnants of white paint on two of the teeth. Small cracks on face and brow area.
Headdress with eyes set beneath an overhanging brow. Above the brow at the centre is a round, knob-like protrusion with ear-like carvings on either side. Deeply grooved areas representing hair (?), run from the protrusion to the back of the head. The long nose extends down from the brow. The cheeks are bulbous, and the mouth is at the bottom of the headdress with a protruding upper lip and two sets of teeth depicted. The headdress has three holes: one on each side and one at the centre on the reverse with string attached.
