Malawian chitenga cloth, commemorating Malawian independence. The repeating pattern shows a banner at top and bottom saying “BEST OF LUCK”, images of the first president Hastings Banda with the words “OUR BELOVED PRESIDENT”, a rooster, and the rising sun behind the outline of Malawi with the words “6th July 1960” and “REPUBLIC OF MALAWI”.

One-note XylophoneK4.54 a-b

Kamba made of a calabash sounding chamber with a burned dotted design. The sticks supporting the sounding board are fixed into clay around the rim of the calabash. These sticks include the four legs at an angle with each pair connected by rope which goes through, and attaches a long flat rectangular wood piece with pointed ends. There is a stick (part b) which tapers at one end that has five angled sides.
