Round bracelet made out of four similarly sized, curved pieces of ivory. The pieces are attached by inset strips of wood and four small, decorative nails per piece, visible on the top and bottom of the bracelet. The sides of the bracelet are squared.
Wooden pipe with carved face. The pipe is long with a thick round outcropping at midpoint, hollowed. Above, the wood is evenly wrapped for 7 cm with thin coiled copper wire, up to where a smooth round head is carved. The face is flat with a long nose decorated with four incised circles. Two eyes sit to either side of the nose, made of embedded small red beads. Three small holes are bored into the top and sides of the head. An incised ring has been cut in the wood near the bottom end of the pipe.
Round bracelet, carved out of a single piece of ivory. The bracelet is thick, with a shiny and smooth surface. The sides are straight on the interior and rounded on the exterior. The ivory has many cracks on the surface that appear to encircle the bracelet, and have aged to a dark brown. They are mostly absent from the interior surface
Wooden mask with very long raffia hair. Mask has a narrow pointed chin with an open mouth, small nose, and closed eyes with narrow slits for viewing holes. The brows are pronounced, a double line, rounded, meeting above the nose. Brows and eyelids are emphasized with small, evenly placed pieces of a bronze coloured metal. At the temples are carved small rectangular protrusions and the forehead is covered with rounded lines of protruding dots, holding small metal nails as decoration. Above the forehead are three prow shaped protrusions, decorated at their top ridges with metal, and carved lines down the sides. The crown of the head from the temples is decorated with embedded cowrie shells. Holes pierce the wood below the cheeks, and a wide ring of wood surrounds the mask on sides and bottom. Attached to this are mounds of raffia palm strips that serve as hair.
Circular basket with a domed lid (part b). Main design consists of orange and black with natural colour in a checkered pattern with striped borders. Domed lid has collapsed ridge near top.
House-shaped box with lid. The cylindrical box is made of a thin sheet of brass that is joined at a seam held together with nails. It is decorated with a series of regularly spaced vertical lines, reminiscent of slats on a house. A removable cone shaped lid tops the box, and its rim fits snuggly over the box’s edge. The lid is decorated with patterns of lines of different lengths and at different angles, suggesting a straw roof. The top point of the box is bent slightly inward and has a small hole in the centre. The box sits on an attached bottomless base of the same construction. It has three rectangular holes cut into it, like small windows. It is also decorated with the slat motif.
Elephant tusk. The tusk is curved, with a smooth, shiny surface. The colour gradates from a light yellow-white at the top open edge to a light brown near the tip. It is hollow and smooth on the inside, with thin walls and a wide opening at top that thickens and narrow toward the tip.
Implement with a long wooden handle holding a long, narrow, metal blade. The handle is slightly flared at the bottom and clubbed at the top. Through a hole in the clubbed portion, the metal blade has been inserted at a downward angle. It tapers to a sharp flair at the working end, and a cylinder of metal has been attached at the other to prevent the piece from slipping through the hole in the wood. A ring has been inserted into the flared end of the handle.
Large carved yellow wood spoon with a handle split into two branches that cross just above spoon and near top end, leaving an oval space between. The ends of the wood at the bottom crossing are blackened.
Small round basketry-covered gourd container with round opening and a thin twined string handle.
