Hair Band811/16

Hair band composed of a strip of black fabric with a series of multicoloured bands at both diagonally cut ends. One end is fringed; the other end and the sides are hemmed. Fringed end has orange, gray, purple and yellow narrow stripes.

Small, rectangular, multicoloured, embroidered bag, with three edges closed, one edge left open to form a flat bag. The closed edges are trimmed with blue and white beading, and the open edge is bound with purple silk. Embroidered designs are worked in orange thread on a red ground, with small touches of purple, green, and bright pink. Embroidered designs are geometric, consisting of whorls and x-shaped figures, organized into border designs, squares and rectangles. Rows of metallic and red sequins are used to accent the shapes within the design field. The embroidery is backed with rust coloured silk or cotton textile. The two sides of the flat bag are identical in colour and style of embroidery, but differ slightly in the choice of motifs.

Bag1201/22

Small, square, embroidered bag, composed of two embroidered squares that have been stitched together on three edges, with one edge left open. A large ‘hooked sun disc’ design is embroidered in predominantly orange floss on deep purple background, and is placed off-centre, bordered with bands of meandering embroidery patterns and couched metallic braid. The two sides of the bag are virtually identical, except for minor design details. The three closed edges of the bag are embellished with multicoloured glass beading; the open edge is embellished with yellow and white beading. The embroidery is backed with red cotton textile.

A densely embroidered, multi-coloured cuff, consisting of a wide band (13.4 cm) joined to form a cylindrical shape. Embroidered designs in the form of large X’s and asterisk-shapes, worked in red floss outlined in light gray-white on brown cotton textile, alternate in the central design field, and there are bands of red, orange and light gray-white embroidered geometric designs at the edges. There are two large pompoms, one orange and one red, sewn to the seam where the two ends of the band are joined.

A rectangular bag of woven wool strips sewn together. Has a geometric pattern in red, black, white, brown, and yellow-brown. Border trim on two sides of braided red wool with tassel ends. Band of plain woven red around top opening with tassels tied to it. Strap sewn to bag is of alternating bands of light brown, brown, and black bordered by dark brown.

A plain woven rectangular cotton pillow cover with four large pink, and gold-coloured wool, tassels. Embroidered with lines, butterflies, and flowers, all in abstract motifs. Gold-coloured thread around the tassles. One side open with copper metallic, and pink embroidered lace on it. Decorated with a few light pink sequins.

Woman’s dress made of purple shot silk, trimmed with gold jacquard ribbon, gold braid and panels of red cotton textile, closed at the neck with two white glass buttons. The neckline is finished with a narrow collar band. The wide cuffs are trimmed with gold braid and small, geometric embroidery. The back of the bodice and the upper part of the skirt are made of orange cotton textile. The waistband is constructed of gold jacquard ribbon and red cotton textile. The full skirt is pleated onto the waistband, and the hemline is trimmed with couched gold braid designs and gold jacquard ribbon. Completely backed with pink cotton textile; the lining and outer textiles are stitched together at intervals with a running stitch.
