Hand coiled gray clay pottery owl. Details hand painted in similar tones of brown, orange and red on a burnished background of silver and gray. Mesh-like patterning of feathers on body extends up the back of the head and to the lower lip of the beak. Stubby tail and vertically extended wings protrude near the base and are striped on top side, spotted on bottom. From the spotted head, multi-lashed and double ringed eyes rise slightly in front of the comical ears. The beak once hooked over a hidden hole, now the mouth appears wide open.
Small, orange clay owl has mesh-like feathers, striped wings and tail, and large dots hand painted in brown over a tan background. Large, looping beak that projects out from top of head like a handle and raised, bulging eyes are brown and orange. Mouth has whiskers.
Vintage, barrel-chested white clay owl has details hand painted in brownish black, except for orange eyes and beak, over a whitish gray background. Head and underside of wings and tail are spotted and the body is covered with large, thickly outlined overlapping feathers. Beak is open and base is painted brown.
Pear-shaped orange clay owl has dark brown and red body details hand painted over a creamy background. Eyes with half moon pupils and v-shaped lashes are set low beside beak that fills most of face front. Head area is covered with curled feathers and body has overlapping pattern.
Hand made, gourd-shaped orange clay owl leans to the right slightly with long, slanted striped wings and stubby fanned tail. Body details are hand painted in dark brown and rusty orange over a brownish beige white background. Mesh-like feather pattern expands and contracts around body and extends up between roughly shaped ears and around base of ridged pincer beak and bulging circular eyes.
Roughly shaped, orange clay owl, standing on long legs with three-toe pronged feet, has a hole in its head and stubby little wings. Eyes and splotchy feathers that cover the entire body have been hand painted in black onto a greyish beige background. Snout-like beak and knobby ears look pinched.
Pear-shaped owl made of pale orange clay is hand painted with dark brown, somewhat sloppy details over a beige slipped body, with only top of beak in dark orange. Wings and tail are striped on one side, spotted on the other.
Small, pear-shaped, red clay owl has beige body onto which wide overlapping feathers, tail and wings that are striped on one side and spotted on the other, rounded ears, and open beak have all been hand painted in brown. Eyes are red and there is a band of circles around the neck.
Squat, gourd-shaped, pale orange clay owl has mesh feather pattern, striped wings and tail, and heavily dotted head area all hand painted in thick strokes of dark brown over a cream background. The flattened rounded ears, large loop beak that starts at back of the head, and eyes with thick iris are somewhat sloppily applied in brown and orange.
Squatting, pale orange clay owl with creamy orange slipped body and red base has off-kilter wings and tail placed near base. Dark brown feather design that covers all of body ranges from perfect dots to daubs to lines to U-shapes. Large brown and red beak extends from back of head across head and hooks down to meet lower lip, like a handle.
