Bows and 8 arrows complete from Yakutat" which seems to refer to E75453 - 5.From card: "75454 (Tlingit) and 75455 (Tinne) [i.e. Athabaskan] illus. in USNM AR, 1888, Pl. 26, figs. 109, 155; p. 286. [Publication caption identifies bow 75455 as willow bow, with device for receiving the blow of the string. Tinne Indians, interior of Alaska.] #75455 - Bow illus. in Smithsonian Rept, 1893; Pl. 64, fig. 2; p. 679." Illustration caption identifies as "Bow, of willow; oval in section, tapering toward the ends slightly, double curve. Chief characteristic is a piece of wood on the inside of the grip, to catch the blow of the string in relaxing. The bowstring is a tough one of rawhide. Length, 4 feet 5 inches. Kutchin, Inland Alaska."
