You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

This is a hide band beaded with white, blue and yellow triangles. It was probably cut from something else. An old tag indicates it belonged to Sitting Bull.
Spear supposedly belonging to Crazy Horse, with hide and bead trimming and iron head. This was given to Dr. Brooks by the daughter of General Brown.Although titled as singular "spear" there were two numbers assigned to it. If this did not indicate the two component parts- shaft and fringe trim- then an additional piece is missing.
This pipe has a long, wood stem with brass tacks along the length. The pipe bowl is made from a reconfigured metal spear of shaft with a French style fleur-de-lye design shape and engravings.

Gift of Appleton Sturgis
The Sioux gun stock club (bottom in photograph) is made of red pipestone too brittle to use for battle. It may have been used in ceremonies since the lead inlays represent potent images; the sun, a bison, a deer, a thunderbird, hearts and arrows. Alternatively, it may have been made for sale. The reverse side at one time also had lead inlays and shows markings that may be more related to astrological signs, half moons, stars and crossed diamonds.
