Fan (iki thadsin)11.694.8977

This fan has a hide handle that has each side beaded differently from the other, one side blue, green, red and white beads, the reverse side red, blue and white. Both sides have a cross in the design. A hide thong is dyed green and tied to one side of the handle. Small eagle feathers are arranged in front of larger eagle feathers and tucked into the fan handle hide.

Pendant tied to Scalp Lock11.694.9033

Otter skin tied with hide possibly as a pendent. There is no evidence of any scalp lock attached. Designation comes from original purchase book by curator Stewart Culin. According to Sean Standing Bear 10/24/2000) the hair attached to it is buffalo "fluff."

This cradleboard is dark brown wood with metal tacks in a zigzag decoration across an area in the top. Rest of the cradle is missing. BArbara Hail Confirms it is Osage back cradle board.

Bowl is shallow; wood surface is smooth. This bowl is part of a game of dice consisting of a bowl with nine dice, two carved pieces and seven disks. The dice shown in photograph may not be the dice that belong to this particular bowl as several sets of dice have been mixed together in shipping. See 11.694.900.1a-g for dice.

Bear Claw Necklace11.694.9032

The trailer consists of brown otter fur lengthened by the addition of a lighter fur that is cloth backed. It is attached to a ring of 28 bear claws circled with blue beads on the outer edge and fur on the neck edge. There is a rosette part way down the trailer, made from reeds and cloth with a feather attached to the center.This necklace was purchased from Sahe (Osage).
