Backstrap LoomSa449 a-g

A loom (parts a-g) with an unfinished woven wool textile consisting of burgundy, orange, blue, pink, green and yellow 8-forms on a burgundy and white striped ground. The textile is attached to two large, cylindrical shaped wooden sticks (part a); one at each end. Intertwine in the multi-coloured warp is a cylindrical shaped heddle covered in white twine (part c); a flat, rectangular batten with triangular, pointed ends (part d); two shed rolls (parts e-f) and a permanent bar (part g). Part b is a rectangular shaped, brown woven backstrape with brown and green twine ties at each end.

There is multi-coloured brocading across the shoulders and chest of various geometric patterns of diamonds, triangles and lines in dark red, pink, blue, yellow, purple, green and orange. Around the neck is an abstract geometric pattern in green, yellow and turquoise on pink ground. The seams have a red and orange checkered pattern.
