She wears a grass skirt and ropes around her ankles, wrists and neck, the last having a single shell attached. The beige bird head has painted decoration in red and black, Cowrie shell eyes and, at the top, a ridge of cassowary feathers tufting out from a clay base studded with tiny shells.

The open mouth has many square white teeth. The mask is painted with swirling abstract designs in white, red and yellow on black ground. Sewn to the back and bottom is a long grass-like fringe.

Made from a piece of palm bark, one side is undecorated, the other shows a red and black figure with plumed bird head and ornate body tattoos standing against a white background. The figure's face is covered with white tattoo decoration and she wears only painted bracelets and anklets. The eagle is painted white, brown and black. Both have shell eyes. On the sides of the finial cone are long peacock feather-like designs, painted orange and white. Artist signature is carved around base.
