Jewelry Transfer1799/69

Object is a sheet of paper with nine transfers on adhesive tape attached. All the transfers are taken from jewelry decorated with Northwest Coast style designs. Five transfers are taken from pendants, two from earrings, one from a ring, and one from a bracelet. At the top of the page are the five pendant transfers, oriented vertically, in a row. Below are two earring tranfers and one ring transfer. Below these, is the bracelet transfer. The earring set and the bracelet have inscriptions in pencil. The inscription for the ring is in black ink, and those for the pendant transfers are in blue ink.

Dagger1768/37

Dagger with long, tapered, metal blade attached to a bone(?) handle. Body of handle wound with skin strips. Top of handle carved like into a bear head with abalone insets. Butt of handle appears to be whale bone.

Bracelet1770/1

Silver bracelet carved with a split raven design with a crosshatched background. The ravens are facing each other with their bodies extending to each end. The ends are square. The bracelet closes with two clasp hooks that fit into corresponding slots at back.

Basketry Hat1651/1

Wide-brimmed hat with woven band around bottom of crown. Band is decorated with alternating natural and red parallelograms (called “leaves of fireweed”). Interior has a leather hatband.

Woven basket with spruce root warp and weft with design elements in dyed spruce root. Plain twined weave with embroidered design of a central band with a "meander" pattern, embroidered in grass on a brown spruce ground (green inside). Base has three bands of green checks and is concave. "Meander" pattern is repeated on lid; lid is cone-like in shape with a raised knob at its centre.
