The item search helps you look through the thousands of items on the RRN and find exactly what you’re after. We’ve split the search into two parts, Results, and Search Filters. You’re in the results section right now. You can still perform “Quick searches” from the menu bar, but if you’re new to the RRN, click the Search tab above and use the exploratory search.

Basketry divided tray. Constructed of cedar slats wrapped in cedar root. Base is rectangular, with short, straight walls. The interior is divided in half by a partition with a rounded top, that sits higher than the basket edge, with a handle hole at centre. Dark red and black cherry bark imbrication decorates the sides of the basket in sets of short diagonal lines.
Basket made of cedar root wrapped slats. Base is a long, thin rectangle with rounded corners, sides flare slightly outward toward the rim. The decoration on the body is alternating horizontal rows of black and red cherry bark, as well as six spaced out black squares (three rows wide) of imbrication on each side. Two hide strap handles are attached just below the rim on the long sides.
Basket is rectangular but with rounded corners; sides flare out somewhat from base to rim. Made of sewn coils of wrapped cedar root bundles. Among the horizontal rows of the body are two rows of imbricated diamond shaped designs near the top and a single line of gammadion crosses near the bottom. Several thongs of hide are attached as loops through the basket near the rim; a braided fibre cord with a wide handle is also attached near the rim. The tumpline handle is woven with pink and brown wool in a diagonal pattern.
Cat-tail reed mat. Mat is made of a double layer of reeds laying parallel to each other, joined in a braid of reed and wool string at the top. Long twisted cords join the reeds together across the width of the mat, spaced at regular intervals. A thick woven plait falls down one side. Ends are contained by a wool string entwined around each strand near bottom.
Thick, off-white, twill weave blanket or robe. Densely woven, wrapped along the short edges, with a heavy, short fringe on the long edges. Small pieces of red wool are occasionally visible as caught up in the weave. (Various areas with condition issues, especially along lower edge.)
