Rod Puppet3420/81 a-c

Large antelope puppet head (part a) with detached horn (part b), and a separate manipulation stick (part c). The face of the animal is painted in a plaid pattern of red, white, green and yellow squares with concentric V's on the forehead - red, black, white, green and yellow, and a white heart-shaped nose. The horns are both broken, with one detached. In between the horns is a small human figure with bright pink skin, wearing a beige tunic. The figure's arms are jointed at the shoulders, and are controlled by blue string. The manipulation stick is inserted into a rectangular hole at the back of the head.

Rod Puppet3420/93 a-k

Large painted wooden boat puppet (part a) with ten painted figures (parts b-k). The boat is painted black with white, red, yellow and dark green vertical bands on either end, as well as two yellow semicircles, and many white zigzag designs. There are five benches within the boat. The bow has a shorter white painted side section than the stern. The figures have different colours of painted skin (red, orange, yellow, dark brown) and each wears a fabric dress or tunic. There are 11 holes drilled down on the top of the boat for the puppets to be inserted into. Four of the puppets (parts b-c, j-k) hold either a paddle or stick, which is controlled by a green cord.

Rod Puppet3420/98

Painted, mask-style animal head on a wooden stick. The white cat-like head is painted with black and yellow spots, and the ears and mouth are painted red. The face has painted large circular eyes, and whiskers below the long carved nose. A wooden handle is inserted into the back of the head, and is unpainted. There are large metal staples spaced around the back of the head.

Rod Puppet3420/95 a-d

Bird puppet with separate body (part a), head (part b) and wings (parts c-d). The body is carved from wood, with burgundy fabric covering the tail joint and extending down in a tube from below. There is a round slot at the top of the neck, which the head's manipulation stick is inserted into, and two small slots on the back to insert the wings. The bird has a large black beak with a red ridge down the top, white face with large circular orange eye, and large round crest extending out from the back of the head in red with black and yellow. The head is mounted on a long, wood manipulation stick that has a tube of burgundy fabric covering it. There is a plastic cord running down the centre that controls the beak.

Male figure puppet with movable arms. The figure has short black hair, and wears a dark red and light grey-green shell pattern tunic. He has painted yellow skin, wide eyes, black eyebrows, black lips and three blacks lines on each cheek. Operated by three rods - a central rod for the body, and a separate rod for each hand.

The figure wears a black and white headdress and a light brown with blue and green patterned tunic. There are control cords running down both legs, covered by painted fabric.

She wears a light yellow-green patterned tunic with a ring structure sewn inside around the waist. There are control cords running down the length of the torso.

Double-headed female figure puppet (part a) with four long, thin moveable arms (one back arm, part b, is broken off at the shoulder). The figure wears a tall black headdress with four downward points, and light yellow-brown and green floral with dark blue and dark red floral and butterfly pattern tunic. They have bright pink painted skin, exposed breasts, black and white eyes, black eyebrows, black marks on the cheeks and forehead, black lips and a black line down the chin. The figure lacks legs, and is mounted on a single rod. There is a green control cord running down the length of the body and rod.

Human face mask with bright yellow skin, and long straight black hair. Mask has half-closed with eye holes cutout underneath. They have thin rounded black eyebrows, black lips, and there are three vertical black lines on the forehead and a line extending down the chin from the lips.

Animal mask, carved and painted. Long oval mask with smooth face and small rounded ears. The face has oval white eyes with black pupils and small red nostrils. There is a fabric cover attached to the back of the mask with a orange-brown background, dark purple blue swirls with small white dots, and gold and black honeycomb-like designs within circles.
