Spoon Item Number: C144 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Brown coconut nutshell spoon that has a handle in the form of a man's torso decorated with zig zag details emphasized by white clay. The hands are curving upward from the hips. There are two small protrusions at either side of the waist. There are two small ears. A hole is in the middle of the head. Bowl of the spoon is rounded.
Burnett had listed the spoon as from the Massim region (Milne Bay Province) of Papua New Guinea, however it is not thought to originate from the Massim or Trobriand people, so the provenance is uncertain.
