Camp Scene Carving Item Number: 3689/1 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Miniature wooden carvings, illustrating a winter camp scene. Carvings include a snow house painted white, with a removable top to see the equipment and layout inside; three seated people holding mugs; two standing males; a dog, rack, two sleds, and a wide variety of tools and utensils, including a tiny metal ulu. Currently most pieces are glued in place on top of a rectangular mirror; others are attached to, or tied on top of, other pieces.
Letter dated July 12, 1957 from J. Adam, O.M.I. to Alfred V. Parminter states that this carving was sent to Mr. Parminter at the request of a Mr. Verhulst. Parminter was superintendent of Indian Education for BC and Yukon.
