Description

Beaded choker-style necklace with a leather cord covered in two rows of pink beads. Twelve beaded squares extend downward from the cord. The squares are composed of alternating rows of two horizontal lines of white, black, and green beads. All the squares have two horizontal lines of red beads at the bottom. There is a white button on one end of the cord and two threads (broken loop ?) on the other.

Narrative

Donated by Mrs Dawson-Thomas to the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria in 1958; sent on longterm loan to the Kelowna Museum (now the Okanagan Heritage Museum) in 1998, then deaccessioned and transferred to them in 2002. The donor recorded the beadword as collected 1850-1870.
