Basket Item Number: 3512/1 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Vase-like beer basket (part a) with lid (part b). Basket has a circular opening with a gently sloping neck that flares into a rounded body, before tapering into a flat base. Large circle decorates base, walls decorated with linear and geometric motifs. There are two hourglass-like sections on either side of basket, with zigzag panels in between. Hourglass-like sections have hourglass-like designs in their centre, made up of alternating triangle motifs, and flanked with distorted diamonds. Zigzag panels are filled with diamond outlines. Lid has an extended lip and interior ridge, that fits into the container body. Assortment of triangle designs extend inward from lid edge. Patterns on both components are visible on interior and exterior. Both components are golden brown, designs done in dark brown.

Basket is formed with woven strands of grass, wrapped in mokola palm fibre.
