Round-bottomed clay jar. Transitions to a glazed concave neck with a wide mouth. The round bottom is hemispherical, and mottled black and orange-red.
Venda pottery is characterized by the use of graphite to give it a lustrous appearance. Unlike the west of the country, southeastern African pottery, including that of the Ganda and Zulu, is often burnished to create a reflective sheen.
