Byzantine coin of Constantine VII, 913-959. Obverse: bust of Romanus I, co-emperor from 920-944, facing front; he wears a jewelled chlamys; to left, he holds a labarum, a military standard, on a diagonal angle; to right, he holds a globus cruciger; inscriptions are illegible. Reverse: there is an inscription of four lines, which says ‘RWM[A]/[nEn]ΘEWb[A]/[SI]LEVSR[W]/[MAI]W[n]’. The inscription on the reverse in translation says ‘Romanus, by the Grace of God, King of the Romans’.
