Description

Byzantine coin of Heraclius, 610-641. Obverse: two figures standing and facing front; to left, Heraclius; to right, Heraclius Constantine, his son; both hold a globus cruciger in their right hand and both wear crown with cross; between their heads, there is another cross; to left and right, inscriptions are illegible, and may be blundered; beneath, partial ‘M’ and ‘Δ’, both of which belong to a previous coin. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘AИИO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘Ϛ’ or ‘ϚI’; above, ‘P’ within a cross; beneath, ‘A’; in exergue, ‘SELISϤ’. This coin has been overstruck, causing confusion on both sides.
