Description
Byzantine coin of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Obverse: bust of Maurice Tiberius, facing front, in consular robes and crown with [trefoil ornament]; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds an eagle-tipped sceptre; to left, inscription is illegible; to right, it says ‘T’. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘AN[NO]’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘XIIIII’ in a vertical position; above, cross; beneath, ‘A’; in exergue, ‘THEϤP’, with a diagonal line after the ‘P’.
