Description
Byzantine coin of Maurice Tiberius, 582-602. Obverse: bust of Maurice Tiberius, facing front, in consular robes and crown with cross; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he holds an eagle-tipped sceptre; above each, there is a cross; to left, inscription says ‘DNMAVR’; to right, it is illegible. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘XX’ in a vertical position; above, ‘P’ within a cross; beneath, ‘Δ’; in exergue, ‘CON’.
