Byzantine coin of Tiberius II, 578-582. Obverse: bust of Tiberius II, facing front, in consular robes and crown with cross; to left, he holds a mappa; to right, he most likely holds an eagle-tipped sceptre with a cross above it, but the poor surface detail makes it difficult to see; to left, inscription says ‘MTIbCON’; to right, it is illegible. Reverse: large ‘M’; to left, ‘ANNO’ in a vertical position; to right, ‘ϚI’; in exergue, ‘CONA’.
