Large low-fired, unglazed and unpainted piki bowl. Mouth is wide, with sides gently curving in toward the small, round base. The terracotta bowl is covered inside and out in a light orange slip.
Piki bowl. Piki is a rolled bread made by the Hopi with nixtamalized corn meal, blue corn, water and culinary ash.
Deaccessioned from the Denver Art Museum in 2003; purchased by Evans through a sale by the Artemis Gallery. Part of the David Evans & Daniel Ma Southwest Collection.
