Basket Item Number: 2998/1 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Tall round oblong basket with handles. Bottom of basket is rectangular in shape. As weaving goes higher, corners are more rounded, creating an oval shape at the lip of the basket. Body weave of the basket is over one/under one. There are twelve coloured strands woven into the body of the basket. They are red and black and alternate in an every other pattern in groups of six. The lip of the basket is done in a different weave pattern than the body of the basket. The handles are long. They are double twisted and secured through two holes in the body of the basket and orange thread is used to tie them off.
