Description

A large rectangular wood board textile print block for siapo (tapa bark cloth). Carved with a floral design consisting of a central four-petalled flower with two pairs of leaves above and below and a downward pointing triangular flower with a stem and two leaves at either sides of the central flower with a tall leafed stem on both side edges. Both stemmed flowers have a horizontal row of zig zags above and below.

History Of Use

Printing block for creating siapo (tapa cloth) patterns; used to transfer tapa paint onto the pounded bark cloth, in a repeating grid pattern.
