Bag Item Number: 2813/68 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
An oblong, tightly woven basket bag with four braided straps. The base colour of the bag is the dark yellow-white of the undyed cabuya fibre. The bag displays a geometric pattern in brown, dark orange, and black. This pattern consists of rhomboidal arrow shapes, stepped rectangles, and stripes. The straps are braided with strands of brown, dark orange, black, and undyed cabuya fibre. The straps are thicker at the base, where they attach to the bag, and then they taper to thin coiled ends.
Traditionally from Chimborazo province or the Salcedo area of Cotopaxi province.
