Description

Petroglyph rubbing on webril with orange and black ink. K. Meyers 8/5/2003 From "Descriptive Catalogue of Petroglyph Prints for the University of Washington, from The Dalles Dam Resevoir, 1956." by Mark Hedden, located in the Archaeology Archives: Figure eight with tail, vertically orented. Upper loop contains short vertical. Tail has two short crossbars near lower extremity. (Whole figure shows recent discoloration but appears more likely that design has been 'refreshed' rather than newly carved.) Other designs include: an arc with rays, cricle 'eyes' with vertical attachments (face?), forearm & hand pattern (rake), vertical zigzag, & an unusual standing figure with circular head, apparently holding a bisected circle (drum?) with one outstretched arm, the other arm akimbo.
