Basketry remnants with lots of loose debris, possibly comprising multiple baskets. All grouped remnants were labeled #53 or #53/A. Loose debris was bagged, as was contents of small box with tag "Assoc. w/53" ( includes one piece with tag #52 ?). The rest includes twill and rim piece (described below) along with various fragments of fine and medium gauge weave. All are rehoused in two boxes, with multiple compartments, that fit in one drawer. Tags were removed to archives. B. Avery 9/5/05. NOTE: A portion of this object (twill piece approx. 11x8cm, was previously cataloged in Argus as #53 for purpose of exhibition. Size: Unestimable Handles: n/a Rim: Fragment - indeterminable - possibly from open twinning - 1 piece of rim - from open twined basket wrapped and folded rim 15.5cm. Body: Assorted pieces (11) checker #1 construction - from 2 to 4 stitches per inch - 2 pieces appear to have bottoms - they are of coarser gauge. (On back of card) 1piece of body with different checker weave - twill - basic checker weave except over two strands (both warp&weft). Size and shape undeterminable probably large basket. Bottom: Crumbly conditon Provenience: Cut: 7N 6E Horiz.
