Baby Carrier Item Number: A8815 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Small cradle or baby carrier made from both raw and tanned deer hide, stretched over a wooden pine frame, red willow bottom strips, covered with red plaid flannel. Rocker bottom. Flannel carrying straps at either end. Raised framework around the head.
Recorded as collected by Dr. R. B. Lane from the Anahim Reserve, in 1951, and made by Mrs. Tommy Jeff (Josephine Jeff). The source, Dr. R.B. Lane, probably refers to Robert Brockstedt Lane, who wrote his 1953 PhD dissertation (University of Washington) on the Chilcotin; titled "Cultural Relations of the Chilcotin Indians of West Central British Columbia."
