Narrative

Heiltsuk style painted dish, previously owned by a Tsimshian woman. The purchase receipt from the Gift Shop described this as: "Bella Coola food dish, owned by Mrs. Alice Wilson." Mrs. Wilson was said to be about 80 years old at the time (1952); they also said she was the daughter of a Tsimshian chief from Port Simpson. The attributed maker of the dish, Carpenter, was Heiltsuk. The 'Totem Pole Gift Shop' was located in Prince Rupert.
