Wine Jug Item Number: Cg135 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Tall brown ovoid stoneware bottle (jug) tapering to flat base, narrow tapering neck, ridged inverted rim, high loop handle from neck to shoulder. On upper front neck is a relief bearded man and the number "4" impressed beneath, on shoulder. Dark molted glaze area down right side.
This large Bellarmine or Bartmann jug was probably used for wine storage.

The number 4 is incised below an image of a bearded man, thought to be that of Cardinal Bellarmine.
