Dish Item Number: Ch60 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Circular white earthenware dish on flat base, with curving sides and a wide flat everted rim. In the well a circular blue medallion enclosing buildings. On rim are four repeated blue landscapes with buildings, trees, foliage, and birds. Blue lines on rim edges.
Thought to be from the Odler workshop in Dechtice. The Odler family of potters were probably Anabaptists who left the commune to set up a separate workshop. They absorbed foreign influences and produced wares decorated with blue cobalt on a white background as found on Chinese porcelain.
