Dark-brown coloured oval-shaped human portrait mask with two birds with long necks, zigzag patterned wings and bent legs attached to the top of the head. Face has a scalloped edge on forehead and is decorated with engraved triangular-shaped patterns. Eyebrows are arched, eyes have thin slits, nose is narrow and pointed, and mouth is small and closed. Attached around the perimeter of the face is a cut-out triangular attachment.
Kpan mask. The Baule believe that before their birth, they lived in the spirit world, ruled over by Gu. These masks are performed for amusement at Goli festivals, and serve to renew the relationship with Gu.
