Round, round centre hole, inner and outer rims on both sides, ten Chinese characters on obverse around the edge of the coin and inside the rim, ten characters on reverse; ten Chinese characters around edge of coin, inside rim on obverse; ten Chinese characters around edge of coin inside rim on reverse.

History Of Use

A charm with a good-luck message (Larson, David). The exact meaning of the poem is not clear, nor is the function of this charm. It could have been used as a good omen ornament for important festivals and occasions. It could also have served as a children's teaching device for geography as the mint names represented much of the Qing imperial landscape (Li, Min).
